A four-hour battery storage plant with its own substation, controls building and a grid interconnection energized on date.
A battery storage plant is part civil project, part electrical project and part software project. The site needed hundreds of battery enclosures on engineered foundations, inverters, a collector system, a project substation and a controls building, all coordinated with the utility’s interconnection date. Fire safety, spacing and thermal management shaped every line on the site plan.
The approach.

- 01
Foundations on a production line
Enclosure pads were formed and poured in a repeating sequence, so setting crews never waited for concrete.
- 02
Enclosures set as they arrived
Battery deliveries were scheduled to the hour and set straight from the truck, cutting laydown and double handling.
- 03
Substation and controls in parallel
The project substation, protection relays and plant controller were built and tested while the battery yard was still filling in.
- 04
Commissioned block by block
Each block was energized and tested for charge, discharge and fault response before the plant ran its full grid acceptance tests.
The outcome.
“The utility gave us one date to energize. We built the whole schedule backward from it and hit it.”
