A dedicated generation plant, switchyard and fuel system that powers a data campus and backs up the grid connection.
The data campus could not wait years for the grid to catch up with its demand. The answer was a dedicated plant on site: generating units, a switchyard, fuel storage and controls that can carry the campus on their own or work alongside the utility. Every transfer between grid and plant had to happen without the data halls noticing.
The approach.

- 01
Gensets as the critical path
Generating units and switchgear were bought at the start of design, and the plant layout was locked around their certified drawings.
- 02
Fuel and piping done once
Fuel, cooling and exhaust piping were modeled, prefabricated in spools and pressure-tested before final tie-in.
- 03
A switchyard that talks to the campus
Protection, metering and controls link the plant, the utility and the campus substations, with every scheme tested by relay technicians.
- 04
Transfers proven under load
The plant ran islanded, paralleled with the grid and took the campus load during scripted tests until every transfer passed.
The outcome.
“When the grid hiccups, the data halls should not even know. That is the only test that counts for a plant like this.”
