The brief

A new operations center and baggage controls upgrade, cut over overnight while every flight kept moving.

An airport never really closes. The owner needed a new operations center and an upgrade to the controls that sort every checked bag, and both had to go live without delaying a single departure. The quiet window between the last arrival and the first bank of flights was a few hours long, and the old system had to stay ready as the fallback.

How we built it

The approach.

  1. 01

    Airside rules from day one

Badged crews, escorted deliveries and FOD control were built into the logistics plan, coordinated daily with airport operations.

  2. 02

An ops center built like a data room

The operations floor sits on redundant power and cooling, with its servers and network proven under load before staff moved in.

  3. 03

    Bags sorted in rehearsal

New baggage controls were run with test bags for weeks in parallel with the old system, until the sort results matched every time.

  4. 04

    Overnight cutovers, step by step

Each cutover followed a minute-by-minute MOP with go and no-go points, and the old controls stayed armed until the first morning bank cleared.

The outcome.

“We had four hours a night and a plane at the gate at dawn. Every step had a time, an owner and a way back.”
